Tom Lether was raised on the island of Maui in Hawaii. He was a 1977 graduate of Kihei Elementary School and a 1981 graduate of Baldwin High in Wailuku. After graduation, he attended the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, for both his undergraduate degree and his juris doctorate degree. Since 1988, Tom has been involved in the insurance industry throughout the United States, predominately in the Northwest and Hawaii.
Tom is the founder of Lether Law Group and Lether Pacific Law Group. He has been representing insurers, insureds, individuals and businesses for over 38 years. He is licensed in a number of jurisdictions, including Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, the Federal courts in all of those jurisdictions, the Colorado Federal Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He also is licensed as an attorney in a number of tribal courts and on a pro hac vice basis throughout the United States.
He spends time with his wife, Kerri, in both Hawaii and Seattle, Washington, practicing law and enjoying boating, golf, gardening, and his Labrador Retrievers. In addition to practicing law, Tom regularly acts as an expert witness in regard to insurance-related matters, serves as an appraiser, and serves as a mediator in a number of matters.
"I was raised in Kihei on Maui when Kihei was a small, dusty little town. Long before Wailea. I went to North Kihei Elementary School where I graduated in a class of less than 25 children. I then moved on to Baldwin High School where I was active in a number of organizations, including being Captain of the Golf Team and eventually Student Body President.
Since moving to the mainland to attend University and start my career, I’ve continuously returned back to my home on Maui to be in the place that I love. Through good fortune and hard work, I have been blessed with the opportunity to return home and lead Lether Pacific Law Group in bringing quality legal representation to insurers and insureds in the state of Hawaii."
